East coast classes are held two days a month on weekends. West coast classes are held for four weekends at a stretch on every fourth month, which equals to four months of lessons in the East course. During the west coast classes, the East coast classes are not held.

The syllabus of Antara is based on the structure and form of Sangeet Bhawan, Geetabitan and Dakshini, the established Tagore Music institutions of India. The syllabus provides thorough voice training (sargam) and exposes students to the North Indian classical music both in theory and in practice. Students are taught to read musical notation, play Harmonium and use microphones for sonorous renditioning. Quizzes on Ragas and Talas are held in every class. Eminent Rabindrasangeet scholars and teachers from Calcutta such as Subinoy Roy and Dwijen Mukherjee were invited as External Examiners to conduct examination for Antara. Suchitra Mitra is the expected External Examiner for Antara for the millenium year 2000.

At Antara, other than Rabindrasangeet, songs of Atulprosad Sen, Dwijendralal Roy, Rajanikanto Sen, Dilip Kumar Roy (Pondicherry) and Bhajans are also taught in their distinguished style of rendering.

Rabindra Mela, a two day festival was organized in 1989 and again in 1993 under the leadership of Antara with Banani Ghosh as the elected President of the organizing committee. The global invitees were eminent intellectuals, musicologists and commentators, who were specialized in Tagore's creativtity and well versed to interpret his thoughts and works to the people at large and to help guide this festivity towards it's desired goals.

The objectives of Rabindra Mela were as follows:

  • Disseminate thoughts and creativity of Rabindranath Tagore in North America
  • Expose philosophical genius of Tagore to the culturally inclined people through seminars, workshops, musical and performing arts of Tagore's creations.
  • Revelation of Rabindranath Tagore's creative genius by organizing an exhibition of selective variety of his publications and paintings.
  • Published a journal entitled "Rabibarnali" by compiling new unpublished articles on Tagore from eminent scholars of Rabindranath Tagore.
