Pandit Manilal Nag

Born in a family of distinguished musicians, Manilal Nag has been recognized as one of the exceptionally talented Sitar player of Indian Classical music. He is a master of improvisation and possesses the rare ability to mold a musical composition into a captivating arrangement.

Manilal hails from a family of musicians belonging to the Bishnupur ghanara - a style of music that is nearly three hundred years old. At the age of five, Manilal was initiated in the art of Sitar playing under the strict guidance of his illustrious father, the Late Sri Gokul Nag.

After ten years of rigorous musical study and ardent practice, Manilal made his debut performance at the All India Music Conference accompanied by the great Tabla player, Pandit Samta Prasad. Since then, he has been one of the most sought after artists both in India as well as abroad.

Pandit Manila Nag is presently a member of the Audition Board of the All India Radio - Calcutta and a member of the University Grants Commission as an Expert Examiner.
