Indrani
Sen, daughter of Sumitra Sen, is revered as one of the most versatile talents
in the Bengali music industry. Indrani excels not just in the songs of Tagore
and Nazrul but also in Bhajans, Devotional, Geets, Ghazals, modern Bengali
songs and other forms of light classical music.
Indrani
has to her credit, a large collections of commercial recordings spanning a
diverse musical genre. She is a playback performer for Bengali and Hindi films
and Television serials and has been the recipient of numerous prestigious
awards and accolades including the Uttam Kumar award, the Hemanta Memorial
award, the Gouriprasanna award, Promathesh Barua award, the Ujala Anandalok
award and many more.
In addition to a distinguished career in
music, Indrani has an equally outstanding career in academics as well. As a
first class graduate from the Master's program in Economics from Jadavpur
University in Calcutta, Indrani holds a key position as a senior lecturer and
Head of the Department in Economics at a leading college in Calcutta.
Presently, Indrani is in-process of obtaining her Ph.D degree from Calcutta
University. As a competitive driver, Indrani participated in the first ever,
Women's Car Rally of Calcutta, as organized by the Calcutta Motor Sports Club
and Goodyear India Ltd.
With a brilliant academic career and an
illustrious career in music, Indrani Sen has successfully carved her niche in
the artistic as well as the academic world and has carried on the lineage as
the daughter of an eminent exponent of the Bengali music genre.
