Durga Prasad

              D urga Prasad is one of the leading Tabla and Pakhawaj players of today. Born in Varanasi, he began his tutelage under Giridhar Prasad Jaipurwale and later continued under the revered Padmabhusan Pandit Kishan Maharaj.

              Durga Prasad has accompanied and performed solo and has accompanied many establised artists. The sweet tone on his Pakhawaj has been appreciated by critics and performers alike. 'Divya Dham' of New York presented the 'Award of Excellence' to Durga Prasad in 1998 for his contribution as an outstanding musician.
