Anindo
Chatterjee is undoubtedly recognized as one of India's foremost Tabla players.
As an accompanist, Anindo is known for his acute sense of balance and
proportion and for his crisp tonal quality, and modulation of sound with
spontaneous rapport with any artist that he accompanies.
At
the tender age of six, Anindo Chatterjee became the disciple of the Late
Padmabhusan Sri Gyan Prakash Ghosh. Anindo's tutelage continued under Gyan
Ghosh of the Farukhabad gharana for over twenty years. Today Anindo is a leader
within his generation of representatives of the Farukhabad gharanas.
Anindo
Chatterjee's knowledge of the various Tabla gharanas and their styles knows no
bounds. He is one of the most sought after Tabla players today and has been the
recipient of numerous prestigious awards and accolades including the first
Tabla player to perform at the House of Commons - United Kingdom in 1990 and
the recipient of the prestigious Sangeet Natak Academy award in 2003.
