Abhijit
Banerjee started his tutelage in Tabla at an early age from Sri Tushar Kanti
Bose, followed by Sri Manik Pal and finally under the expert guidance of Pandit
Gyan Prakash Ghosh. In addition to Tabla, Abhijit wanted to expand his
knowledge of music by seeking training in Vocal music as well as in Violin.
Aside
from accompanying some of the prominent artists of India, both in North Indian
and in South Indian musical tradition, Abhijit had composed music for Televison
serials and short films and has received the National Award for "The Trails" -
a film on Calcutta. Abhijit has also conducted seminars on Indian Classical
Music at major universities across the United States, United Kingdom, Spain and
Japan.
Abhijit
has had the privilege of presenting himself as a solo performer in numerous
prestigious music conferences both in and outside of India and had the
priviledge of representing India in the World Festival of Music held in
Granada, Spain.
Abhijit
has several recordings to his credit both as an accomplished Tabla player as
well as a collaborative artist on Jazz recordings.
